BACKGROUND

In 1986, the Northwest Community Futures Development corporation in northwestern Manitoba was established making it the oldest such Development corporation in Canada today.

"Northwest" as we often call it for short, is a non-profit corporation that is governed by a volunteer board of Twelve directors. Northwest is funded through Western Economic Diversification Canada, and stays at armslength from government.

Currently there are numerous projects that are being undertaken to expand the economy of this region of manitoba.
